Terms of Service
These are the rules for playing Shattered Crowns. They're short because the deal is simple: the game is free, play fair, don't ruin it for others.
The service
Shattered Crowns is a free online multiplayer game, currently in beta. That word is load-bearing: features change, balance changes, servers restart, and in rare cases progression data may be reset or lost. We work hard to avoid that, and you accept the risk of it by playing a game while it's being built. The service is provided as is, without warranties, and to the maximum extent permitted by law our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us — which today is nothing.
Eligibility & accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- Your account secret is a bearer credential: anyone holding it is you, as far as the server can tell. Keep it private; we can't recover what you share.
- Accounts are yours to play with, not to sell, trade, or share for boosting.
Conduct
Play to win; don't play to ruin. The following get warnings, suspensions, or bans at our discretion:
- Cheating in any form — automation, exploiting bugs for advantage, tampering with the client or network traffic to gain an edge. (Found a bug? Reporting it is celebrated. Farming it is not.)
- Harassment, hate speech, or slurs — in chat, in names, in guild text, anywhere words go. Display names and guild names that exist to offend get renamed or removed.
- Queue sabotage: intentional disconnects, win-trading, or griefing your own team.
- Attacking the service itself — flooding, scraping accounts, probing other players' data.
Reports filed in-game are read by a human. Enforcement is proportionate: most first offenses are a conversation, not a ban.
Virtual goods
Crowns, cosmetics, laurels, and every other in-game item are licensed to you for play, not owned; they have no cash value and can't be traded or redeemed. Per the game's own locked design rule, nothing sold for real money will ever grant gameplay power — cosmetics only. If real-money purchases ship, they'll be processed by the storefront you bought through (e.g. Steam), and refunds follow that storefront's policy.
Your content, our game
The game — its art, music, code, and world — belongs to its developer. What you write (names, chat, guild notices) is yours; you grant us the license needed to display it to other players, which is the entire point of writing it. We may feature recordings or replays of matches (they show your display name) in trailers, streams, and store pages.
Termination & changes
You can stop playing, or delete your account, at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules, and — being a beta — we may change or discontinue the service. If these terms change materially, the date above changes and the news feed says so; continuing to play after a change means you accept it.
