Shattered Crowns is in active development and playable now. It is free, there is nothing to buy, and the build below is the same one being played this week.
Windows
Latest playtest build
~68 MB zip · no installer · no account required to download
Windows only for now. There is no macOS, Linux or mobile build — the client is Godot and could export to all three, but an untested build is worse than an absent one, so they wait until somebody can actually run them.
Getting in
- 1
Download the build
A single Windows zip, around 65 MB. No installer and no account needed to download it — the builds repository is public.
- 2
Unzip it somewhere you can find again
Windows may warn about an unsigned executable. The game is not code-signed yet; that costs money and is on the list.
- 3
Run Shattered Crowns
Practice offline against the AI straight away, or create an account from the main menu to play online and keep what you earn.
What state it is in
Honestly: a working tactics game with rough edges. Matches play end to end, online and off. The systems the codex documents are all live — rolled kits, rolled gear, Charge Time turn order, height, facing, evasion, statuses, job progression.
What is missing is polish and population. Art is placeholder in places, balance moves every few days, and the online queue needs people in it at the same time as you — there is an option to fill a match with AI if nobody turns up.

- This codex describes
- v0.5.25-dev “Shows Its Working” — the development build, which can run slightly ahead of the last published download.
- Cost
- Free. Nothing is for sale, and gear is drawn per battle rather than owned.
Reporting something
Bug reports are genuinely useful right now, and the most useful thing you can attach is the match log — the game writes one for every battle, and it records the build it came from, every event, and every number behind it.
Balance opinions are welcome too. Several systems on this site changed because one person said a thing felt wrong and turned out to be right.
