The Painted Arsenal
The other half of the art pass. v0.5.26 painted the sixteen summons; this release paints everything else a spell can throw — every element, and every ultimate. Between the two, no magic in the game resolves as an abstract shape anymore.
Every element is painted
All eight elements now land as watercolour art in the portrait house style — ice erupts as faceted crystals, fire climbs as a curling tongue of flame, lightning strikes as a jagged painted bolt, and wind, earth, water, holy and dark each carry their own motif. (Ice and fire actually slipped into the final minutes of v0.5.26's build; the other six and the write-up are new.)
The tier rule is FFT's own, read from its effects gallery: a spell gets stronger by drawing the same motif bigger and fewer. A common Blizzard scatters three small crystals; Winter's End raises one enormous one. Nothing is authored per spell — count and size derive from the ability's own numbers, so a retuned spell re-dresses itself and next release's new spell arrives already painted.
Each element also knows which way it moves: crystals, stone, geysers and grave-mist erupt up out of the tile; fire, wind and holy light bloom at the body; and lightning is anchored to the sky, scaling downward so the strike arrives instead of growing. Physical hits and element-less abilities keep the vector slash they have always had — that absence is now the mark of a mundane blow.
Every ultimate carries its own emblem
All nineteen ultimate abilities — the 1-in-100 jackpot rows — now resolve under a bespoke painted emblem. Stasis Sword plunges a crystal greatsword into a frost burst. Meteor falls headlong, fire streaming behind it. Persuade presses a crown crest into rose wax. Muramasa bleeds down its blade; Masamune answers it point-up, wrapped in cherry blossom. Stop is an hourglass whose sand hangs frozen mid-fall.
The emblem draws at the moment of resolution, holds like a summon's arrival, and burns off. It lands for the status ultimates too — Stop, Persuade and Silent Dirge never touch the damage numbers, and until now they resolved almost invisibly; the emblem is most of what they get.
Ultima is not "what Dark looks like": two Dark backstabs (Assassinate and
Sudden Death) carry different pictures, and Bahamut keeps its summon plate
rather than doubling up. The build now fails by name if an ultimate is ever
added without art — which is how this release found contortion, a
nineteenth ultimate the working list had missed.
The FX previewer names its spell
fx_preview shows a rarity-tinted banner — display name, id, position in
the set, rarity, job — so an art review can say "change that one" and name
it, instead of counting log lines. ++ ultimate walks all nineteen
smallest-first; ++ dressed walks everything that has art.
